Hi there!
True story! In 2017, I survived a pulmonary embolism. What do you do after the doctor tells you that you were a few hours close to death? You take a few weeks to get better then you plot out how to live an amazing life.
My time in the hospital was a culmination of a journey that started when I turned 30. I found myself depressed with no energy. I felt like I had run into a brick wall. So, I decided to try something different because I wanted more out of life. The goal is to seek happiness fearlessly in all areas of my life. I reactivated my obsession with food. I quit my job, went back to school to become a nurse and I started seeking out travel opportunities.
I love eating. I love cooking. I love baking. I love learning about food. This blog is centered around the joy I find in food but it is more than food. I am hoping you will find some value in the glimpse that I am offering.
You also know that I am a survivor of an eating disorder. I should tell you that a lot of how I relate with food is tied back to this traumatic period in my life. As such, I do not talk about diets or rules or anything like that. This space is a safe space because I firmly believe that food should be a joyous experience, not one that is grounded in anxiety and shame. As my father once said, “eat! eat! eat!” Find joy in food.
Beyond food, I never imagined I would embark on a new career in my 30s. I definitely did not think I would be an older student. I have only recently accepted that it is okay to feed and clothe my plus size body extravagantly. And I feel like I am old enough to be opinionated about everything. In short, I found my voice.
I have written blogs before. I started out writing the fashion blog Will Wear This. I moved on to eko-ile. Then I wrote the now deleted, Will Eat This. My last blog, Chasing Impossible is still up because I love the things I wrote there. Most recently, I wrote A Year of Doing as well.
In making the choice to live fearlessly, I have decided to emerge as my whole self in one place. So, all the bits of my digital life have been combined here as much as possible.
